Business Brief – Burger Joy

Burger Joy is a sketchy looking takeout place in the same parking lot as a Chevron.  It has a boring sign simply displaying that they have both American and Chinese fast food available such as wings, lo-mein, and of course, burgers.  The interesting thing about this place is that it is so well liked in Grant Park, a neighborhood that overall seems to like things more ‘green’ and ‘natural’.  The reviews of Burger Joy on the popular site, Yelp.com, are from some dedicated locals who frequent Burger Joy often.  The most positive aspects of this business are that it is open late (until 3:00 am), they deliver, and they are close.  These things may be true about other companies but Burger Joy has it all. Fast food chains are open late, but don’t deliver, and usually only have American food. Chinese places typically don’t deliver very late, and Burger Joy is a unique, non-chain, local place for people living in and near Grant Park to get something to eat late.  Although the location of this business is not ideal, they are doing well regardless.  Any place that sells food in or near a gas station is not typically where the general public would go to get something to eat.  Their sign is very boring, and a bit scary looking.  I would like to really take up the emotions and feelings attached with the word ‘Joy’ which is in their name but not accentuated at all.  Joy is something the customers are saying that they feel when they receive their food delivered to their house, since they are usually in no condition to be driving.  When it is late, and you are a young person or a college student, junk food being delivered to you is ‘Joy’. I would also like to add some bright colors to their logo, as the idea of joy is given off with bright colors, as well as the young customer base.  Red is definitely something I have in mind based on the original sign, fast food, and the feel of a classic burger.  Some classic design aspects are also to be used since burgers are such an all-American, all-time, classic food.
